Campsite Reservations and Walk-ins

French Camp Campground operates on both a reservation system and on a first-come, first-served basis. During peak season, it's advisable to book in advance through the National Recreation Reservation Service (NRRS) or Recreation.gov. Some sites may still be available for walk-ins, but availability cannot be guaranteed, especially on weekends and holidays.

Regulations and Considerations

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, please abide by the following regulations:

  • Food Storage: Due to the presence of bears in the area, all food, toiletries, and scented items must be stored in bear-proof containers or your vehicle.
  • Campfire Permits: A campfire permit is required for use of fire rings, and fire restrictions may be in effect depending on conditions.
  • Pets: Pets must be on a leash at all times within the campground.
  • Quiet Hours: Typically, quiet hours are enforced from 10 PM to 6 AM.

Seasonal and Weather Considerations

Given its high elevation, French Camp Campground generally operates seasonally from approximately late spring to early fall, depending on weather conditions. Snow can linger into June and arrive early in October, so it's essential to check the weather forecast and be prepared for cold temperatures and changing conditions, especially if you are camping early or late in the season.
