Overview

Fort Stevens was once the primary military defense installation in the three-fort, Harbor Defense System at the mouth of the Columbia River (Fort Canby, Washington, and Fort Columbia, Washington, were the other two). The park now provides a variety of recreational opportunities and a rich historical significance. Fort Stevens State Park offers camping, and one of its landmarks is Battery Russell, part of the fort's historic area.
