General Information

Harding Lake State Recreation Area is located in the Interior region of Alaska, about 45 miles south of Fairbanks on the Richardson Highway. This park was established in 1967 and is named after United States President Warren G. Harding. It covers an area of 325 acres and is one of the oldest units in the Alaska State Park system.

Camping Facilities

The recreation area offers several facilities for campers, including:

  • Campsites: Both tent and RV campsites are available, with some of the sites offering electrical hook-ups. There are over 90 campsites to choose from.

  • Waste Disposal: Campers must pack out all garbage, or use designated trash collection areas if available.

  • Off-Season: During the off-season (late fall through spring), services such as water and trash collection may be limited or non-existent. Campers should come prepared to be self-sufficient.
