Location and Overview

Ridley Creek State Park is located in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, just a few miles north of the city of Chester. Sprawling across over 2,600 acres, the park features a variety of landscapes including woodlands, meadows, and the flowing waters of Ridley Creek. It's an ideal spot for a day trip or a short camping getaway for those living in or visiting the Philadelphia area.

Camping Facilities

While Ridley Creek State Park offers countless outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and picnicking, it is important to note that as of my last knowledge update, Ridley Creek State Park does not have camping facilities. This means no overnight camping is available within the park grounds for the general public.

Activities and Recreation

  • Hiking: With over 13 miles of trails, the park is a hiker's delight, offering trails that range from easy to challenging.
  • Biking: Several miles of paved multi-use trails are available for bikers and are shared with pedestrians.
  • Fishing: Ridley Creek is an approved trout water and is stocked with trout seasonally.
  • Picnicking: Numerous picnic areas can be found scattered throughout the park with available charcoal grills.
  • Horseback Riding: There is a 4.7-mile equestrian trail and horse-riding facilities are available through a private concessionaire.

Nearby Camping Options

For those interested in camping nearby, here are alternative options:

  • Colonial Woods Family Camping Resort: Located in nearby Upper Black Eddy, this campsite offers tent sites, RV sites, and rental cabins.
  • Philadelphia/West Chester KOA: Situated a bit farther away in Coatesville, this campsite offers a range of camping options including cabins, tent sites, and RV sites, with great amenities.

Park Regulations

  • Alcohol: Alcohol is not permitted in the park.
  • Fires: Open fires may be prohibited or regulated.
  • Pets: Pets are allowed in most day-use areas and must be controlled and attended to at all times.

Visiting Hours and Contact Information

  • Visiting Hours: The park is open every day of the year, sunrise to sunset.
  • Office Hours: Typically, the park office is open specific hours on weekdays.
  • Contact: For the most current information, visitors should call the park office or visit the Pennsylvania State Parks website.

Before visiting or planning your day trip, it's recommended to check the latest information and any potential advisories or changes in policy. Activities, amenities, and regulations can change due to management decisions and state regulations, so it's always best to get the latest updates before heading out.
