Overview

Devils Sinkhole State Natural Area is a unique natural wonder located in Rocksprings, Edwards County, Texas. This vertical cavern is considered one of the largest single-chamber caverns in the United States, it's a National Natural Landmark primarily recognized for its bat population and its geologic features.

Bat Population

The sinkhole serves as a roosting site for thousands of Mexican free-tailed bats. From spring through fall, visitors can witness the incredible sight of bats emerging from the sinkhole at dusk in search of food. This nightly exodus is one of the park's main attractions.
