This remote location requires a float plane to access in the summer and possibly snowmobiling in as a winter option, depending on weather conditions. Forest Service Cabin rentals are quite popular, and reservations must be made well in advance.

Reservations and Fees

Reservation for the cabin typically must be made through the USDA Forest Service’s official cabin reservation system, Recreation.gov. There is a nightly fee for using the cabin, and fees are subject to change. Check the Recreation.gov website for current pricing and availability.

West Swan Lake Cabin is generally rustic and offers basic amenities. Common facilities include:

  • A wood stove for heating
  • Sleeping bunks (without bedding)
  • A table and seats
  • An outside toilet (usually without flush)
  • Cooking facilities may include a simple stove or grill
